Broccoli, sesame and bananas are a natural weapon to combat bone loss…
In order to preempt and prevent osteoporosis, it is important from to take care of our diet from an early age.
In adolescence, it is of great importance that the young people are physically active, as this encourages the growth and development of bones.
We are introducing you the three kinds of food that have the most necessary ingredients for healthy and strong bones.
Broccoli is best when raw
Broccoli (Brassica oleracea) belongs to the family of green vegetables, which provides a variety of minerals and proteins, calcium in particular. It is best consumed in its raw state as a salad, and then fried in a little oil, given that by thermal treatment, it loses important ingredients.
The abundance of minerals, calcium, magnesium, potassium and iron, puts it on top of the charts of foods for keeping the health of our bones, and health in general.
When preparing broccoli, cook it in boiling salted water for five to six minutes. This way, the most useful ingredients are preserved,it is crispy and it has a nice taste.
Thus it can be cooked and served at a number of ways:
- Spiced up with sesame and lemon juice.
- As simple delicious soup with cooked cauliflower, to which you can add spices to taste.
- In the form of omelet with flowers and chopped stems.
- With cooked pasta,in addition with chopped peanuts and olive oil.
Sesame with yoghurt
Sesame (Sesamum indicum) is one of the most useful dietary supplements for osteoporosis, while sesame oil is considered a high-quality, and is often used as a substitute for olive.
There are also the very important calcium, manganese, copper, magnesium and selenium in large quantities. For those who do not have enough calcium in the body, sesame is the right choice. Just one tablespoon of this seed should be soaked in 0.5 dl of yoghurt, and then leave it overnight. In the morning everything should be eaten on an empty stomach, and the process should be repeated continuously.
Eat ‘spotted’ bananas
Banana is not only the fruit of satisfaction, but also an effective fruit that can replace a complete meal or supplement the diet. It is effective against osteoporosis, because it is rich in minerals like: potassium, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, as well as folic acid.
The banana also contains vitamins responsible for maintaining bone density. It is interesting that scientists insist on consuming ripe “spotted” bananas, because the other include protein ones in their development stage, which according to research, suppresses the action of certain enzymes important for the metabolic processes in the body, and consequently the processes that ensures the health and quality of the bones.
Dried bananas are greatly preferred because they improve metabolism, and contain all useful ingredients in more concentrated form, making them even more effective.
